1st Lieut. George F. Cowing
Company K 
George F. Cowing was a resident of Walworth when he enlisted on 14 August 1862 as 1st Sergeant of Company K; was promoted to 1st Lieutenant 18 September 1863; and then was promoted to Captain of the Company on 21 February 1865.
The back of this CDV was inscribed "From Geo. F. Cowing, 1st Lt. 28th Wis. Vols. to his bloved (sic) sister Elizabeth C. Cowing, Alexandria, Minn." Photo geneously shared by Joe Young.
